Every probiotic product seems to have something different to offer, and acidophilus pearls are no exception. The manufacturer claims to use a proprietary patent protected method called True Delivery Technology, which delivers this dual strain probiotic in a seamless capsule. Instead of a single protective coating, Acidophilus Pearls have a triple layer coating in which the manufacturer guarantees that it will ensure up to 900% more friendly bacteria than other probiotic products. Quite a claim, you may think. But nonetheless, the company insists it’s true. In addition, it’s also claimed that the product has a shelf life of 18 months, 6 months longer than other probiotics. The primary layer is a paste containing the product’s two strains of friendly bacteria suspended in a protective oil mix. The next layer then seals the paste in an air-tight environment, keeping it safe from air, moisture and heat; all of which are known to damage live bacteria. The top layer’s job is to ensure that it only dissolves inside the alkaline environment of the GI tract, thus ensuring that the live cultures are released live and intact upon arrival in the intestine, and not beforehand in the acidic environment of the stomach.

What’s in it?

Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum are the only two strains of bacteria inside Acidophilus Pearls. As these two strains are most well known and are backed by over 75 years of scientific research, they are proven to be the most effective probiotic ingredients when used to develop and maintain a healthy balance of flora in the gastrointestinal tract. Unlike other products that claim to have several billion bacteria, Acidophilus Pearls only contain 1 billion. This is because, according to the manufacturer, general recommendations are to take only 1 billion on a daily basis. The makers claim that other products simply include more because many don’t make it past the stomach, or die on the shelf. The maker says that you get all you need in one capsule because their True Delivery Technology guarantees safe transit into the intestines, with a proven 90% success rate. The bacteria inside are harvested in a controlled process of fermentation, purified and then grown to high numbers before being concentrated to high doses. The exact substance on which they are grown is a trade secret. Other ingredients include palm oil, soy lecithin, pectin, gelatine and vegetable glycerin. Each capsule is 100% free from sugar, salt, yeast, gluten, dairy products, corn, preservatives and artificial flavourings. All ingredients are natural.

What does it do?

Acidophilus Pearls make no claims to heal the world, but simply to provide the best probiotic support for immune boosting, digestive and skin health. Healthy bowel movements are essential to our everyday health, and you may think that ailments such as constipation are just a pain, but they actually play a major role in diminishing our bodily health. A lack of L. acidophilus and B. Longum could cause decaying bowel movement and increase the activity of putrefactive bacteria. Putrefying organic matter is known to produce many damaging substances. Now it’s true that these two components can be found in our everyday yoghurts, but the manufacturing process, fermentation and storage conditions all help to diminish the amount of friendly bacteria inside. Also, many people cannot or will not eat yogurts because of high sugar and fat content, or they are lactose intolerant. So Acidophilus Pearls are the perfect alternative, providing all the nutrients with none of the calories. Additionally, B. Longum has been shown to support lactose breakdown and alleviate some of the symptoms involved for sufferers of lactose intolerance.
